And so it is...

I'm beginning...with some hesitation. Maybe this will motivate me to write, but only time will tell. Or maybe running out of idioms will tell. I like that my first post is on my mom's birthday. She's 53 today. Happy Birthday ha-ima sheli. I love you. If you haven't met my mom, you should know that she's a lot of fun...the kind of mom that calls on your birthday morning and sings a very high-pitched version of the birthday song. She used to pretend clog with us on the kitchen floor and she laughs so hard that she cries and she says cute things like "Your dad and I went bee-bopping on down to the store" and "They're proud as punch." When I was in elementary she took karate lessons. It was probably the first time I thought of my mom as an actual person--I mean seperate from momhood. She was really good at the karate sounds and I loved telling my friends that my mom was going to karate class that night. When I was 24 she decided to read the Book of Mormon once a month for a year. She was really good at taking her blue paperback copy with her everywhere and I loved telling my friends that my mom was reading it for the 11th time that year. She's an amazing woman. And as you can see, very beautiful. This is us a week ago at an event I've been working on for the past 8 months. In the end, I didn't care much about the escort cards and place settings...only that my mommy was there. Much gratitude, Mom, for helping to create my wonderful world.
